Junior Coaching

There will again be free coaching offered to all junior members of the club. Coaching during school summer holidays will be on THURSDAYS between 10-11am. They will revert to a Sunday after schoos return. Anyone wishing to attend should give their names to the professional staff in the shop. Maximum of 10 juniors can attend and names will be taken on a weekly basis, no block bookings so that everyone gets the opportunity to attend.

We are hosting a Golf Coaching Week from Monday 10- Friday 14 July between 9.30am and 1.30pm each day. The cost is £50 and all coaching is done by Jim McFadyen. At the time of writing this there are only 3 spaces left so if you want in you better contact the pro shop pronto. Please pay in advance or your booking cannot be confirmed.

Our main objective is to get the juniors playing more golf, playing more competitive golf and making friends so that they enjoy being members at Erskine.

Junior Day

The Junior Committee would like to hold a Junior Day on Sunday 9 July 2017.
I have asked the board for permission to do so. If agreed the format will be something like this;

It will commence about 1000 hours hopefully with an input from our professional staff regarding rules and etiquette, followed by some coaching with Jim McFadyen and coaches on the practice areas.

After a short break for lunch or snacks it is proposed for the older juniors / coaches to be teamed with two or three new or newer juniors and play 4-6 holes prior to having a Q and A session when all are back at the clubhouse.

Hopefully this will assist in integrating new or newer members with existing juniors, create friendships and encourage all juniors to play more golf and in competitions.

Mums, Dads and carers will be welcome to come down and help, watch, tag along.

If and when we get the go ahead I will put a form on the notice board for people who wish to attend.

Blue tees

The blue tees are for use by younger Juniors and beginner golfers to encourage them to play without feeling they are taking too long and to build confidence before moving to the red or yellow tees.

Beginners or newer members can obtain a club handicap by playing three x 9 holes from the blue tees as long as another player or parent has marked the card. Place cards in Junior card box and let me know and I will get you a handicap.

9 hole medals over holes 1-9 are on the BRS system to be played on any day there is a junior medal so if the younger juniors feel 18 holes is too much they can play the 9 holers and still get or play for their handicap. 9 hole medals are from red or blue tees only. Please mark on card which tee you play from.

Should medal participation increase to a reasonable level then I can introduce a ballot system so that players are drawn with different people increasing integration.

Junior Medals will appear as Blue (Red Tees) or Yellow Medals on the BRS system. Anyone not knowing how to use BRS system can ask pro staff to assist them.

The Junior Committee have agreed to their contact details being placed on the Junior Notice Board for any junior to contact if they are looking for a game. I am hopeful that other more experienced juniors will add their details also.
